Groton’s Month of Service is under way! Running from October 15 through Thanksgiving, Groton’s Month of Service encourages Grotonians to take part in a service activity in their own communities, in honor of Groton and its mission. From coast to coast, members of the Groton community—alumni, past and current parents, and friends of the School—will put cui servire into action. Already students, faculty, and local parents have helped serve at the Town of Groton’s monthly community dinner—taking orders, serving dinners, and cleaning up at the end of the meal.
In Boston, Grotonians will help pack boxes for needy children at Cradles to Crayons. In Darien, Connecticut, volunteers will help out in the food pantry and clothing center at Person-to-Person. In Washington, D.C., denizens of the nation’s capital will support the Trust for the National Mall on Saturday, November 3 from 9:45 to noon. Contact Hilary Watts by email or telephone 781-424-8587 for more information. More events will be shared soon. Follow the links to learn more about the opportunities.
What service will you undertake to celebrate Groton’s 128th birthday? Share it with us on Facebook or tweet it to @GrotonSchool. We would love stories and pictures of Grotonians near and far as they help the communities where they live while also living the mission of the School.
