The Groton School Science Department invites interested families and friends to an illustrated lecture by Justin Fallon Ph.D., of Brown University Medical School’s Department of Neuroscience, on Tuesday, May 20 at 7:15 p.m. The lecture will be held in the Blackbox Theater, at the right/rear of the Campbell Performing Arts Center.
Dr. Justin Fallon has spent his entire academic career working to understand how proteins shape cell differentiation and function. His recent work has focused on a particular a protein called biglycan, which plays a key role in maintaining muscle integrity. Working in partnership with a biotechnology company, Fallon is now developing a recombinant version of biglycan as a potential therapeutic for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and ALS.
This is a great opportunity to hear a very articulate and thoughtful professor discuss the translation of science to medicine. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
