Chef Ed Wetterwald is a good chef, a very good chef, but that is only part of the reason that he received the Employee of Year award from the Compass Group, the parent company of Groton’s food service provider, Flik.
Nominated by Groton’s Director of Dining Jed Coughlin P’12, Ed received the award in recognition of his efforts not only around the Circle, but at the corporate level as a developer of menus and food preparation that meets the food service demands in independent schools.
The award was presented in front of more than 1,000 regional employees of Flik at their annual conference, held this year at Boston’s World Trade Center. In his nomination, Jed pointed to Ed’s quiet and calming presence in the kitchen, where he mentors junior cooks on his staff and collaborates with the more experienced chefs. Ed has built a team that is innovative, creative, and safe, and at Groton we reap the delicious benefits.
