Pyne Speaker May 6

Pyne SpeakerThe 2012 Percy and Eben Pyne Chapel Speaker is Vanderbilt University’s Dr. Stacey Floyd-Thomas, whose work has been said to sit at the intersection of ethics, feminism, race, and social justice.

On Sunday, May 6, Dr. Floyd-Thomas will give the sermon at the 11 a.m. morning prayer service in St. John’s Chapel. At 7 p.m. that evening, she will speak in the Schoolhouse Hall; her lecture is titled “America Eats its Young: The Cause and Effects of Social Sin in the 21st Century.”

Dr. Floyd-Thomas earned her B.A. at Vassar College, a M.T.S. from Candler School of Theology at Emory University, and both a Ph.D. and M.A. from Temple University. She serves as executive director of both the Society of Christian Ethics and the Black Religious Scholars Group.

Please join us for one or both of her talks; they should prove to be informative, provocative, and lively.
