The Groton Gardening Group, G3, joined forces once again with Groton’s student Enviro club and promoted sustainable agriculture by screening the documentary Truck Farm. The film follows the journey of a man who builds and maintains a sustainable garden in the bed of his truck, traveling to schools and community groups to discuss the importance of gardening and sustainable food production. The Enviro Group raffled toy dump trucks filled with brownies to encourage attendance.
The screening kicked off gardening season for the G3, who cultivate and maintain a small organic garden near the Buildings and Grounds site. The Dining Hall uses its vegetables, herbs, and fruits.
The Gardening Group is preparing for its annual planting day, Sunday, May 20 at 2 p.m., during Reunion Weekend . Anyone interested in digging their hands in the dirt and helping to plant tomato seedlings and other crops are encouraged to contact Tucker Smith for additional information.
