Headmaster Rick Commons, his wife Lindsay, and other Groton faculty traveled to the West Coast for the annual Los Angeles and San Francisco receptions. Over 100 alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends gathered to connect and re-connect with each other and to hear about School life and an update on the strategic plan. In LA guests chuckled hearing about the almost two feet of snow burying the Circle. A fifth former whose mother attended that event, sent a photo to her mother’s phone which allowed many to see the mounds of newly fallen snow.
In San Francisco the gathering also included some prospective students. Director of Admission Ian Gracey coordinated his visit with the annual reception which allowed interested families to meet some graduates, some parents of current students, and to hear more about the School from Mr. Commons and President of the Board Jamie Higgins. This event was the evening before Groton’s admission application deadline and one or two prospective students needed to head home following the reception to put the finishing touches on their application paperwork before submitting the documents to the School online.
